Schwarz Etienne was founded in La Chaux-de-Fonds in 1902 by Paul Arthur Schwarz and Olga Etienne, and built movements that went into watches sold under other names for most of the century that followed. It has made watches under its own since the 1980s. Mainplates, escape wheels, balance wheels, escapements and even the notoriously difficult hairsprings are made in house, which almost no one at this scale can claim. The range runs from the classically drawn 1902, its sector dials and micro-rotor calibres in titanium, to the Geometry, where four quadrants of guilloché are cut by hand into a dial of 18ct gold. Only a few hundred Schwarz Etienne watches leave La Chaux-de-Fonds each year.
